Tulle Butterflies

Butterflies...

Getting ready for spring! I am! I am ready to get rid of this snow and cold weather!

These are quick and easy to make you just need a few supplies and a little time.

I use these on all kinds of projects and gifts also. They are great on cards, scrapbook pages, mini albums and flatten nice so not to bulk up project life books either, tags, you name it.

Happy creating!

Fireside...

Feeding the Fire...

The weather here is crazy. It is cold and dreary, the sun pops out momentarily and then ducks back into the coziness of the clouds. it is still winter and mother nature is not going to let us forget about it and ease us into spring. We are expecting snow be it flurries or feet, it really is no different when it comes to temperature it is all the same cold, Cold, COLD!

This time of year keeps you inside, under the covers a little longer, to bed a little earlier, cozy by the fire with a good book or a craft, crochet, knitting, drawing, coloring etc. I do enjoy this time with family it is what I like to call our down time, no one is running around with numerous chores and must get dones...lol

The most work so to speak is feeding the fire... putting a log on, to keep us warm and keep us together in one area spending quality time with the ones we love. Each other of course!

No Matter what your weather remember to take time out, to do little things like this, they really do make all the difference. Even if we are all doing our own things someone will say something and spark a conversation and before we know it...its on...it sometimes gets loud, jokes being told,  happy tears start falling...total crazy chaos...

I would't change any of it, (well maybe make it a little warmer!) These are times as a mom I love!

If you don't have a fireplace, or someone to share it with tonight feel free to sit with us and Enjoy. It may be small but warm, cozy and inviting...to family that is all you need!

Stay Warm!

Quiche..

It's whats for Dinner!

A very versatile dish. As long as you like eggs and biscuits (or another breading base). The possibilities are endless, there are so many combos and variations to help get rid of those leftovers in the fridge, instead of tossing them that is.

Pick a meat, cheese, a veggie and there you go as long as you have eggs and biscuits easy dinner!

I use a 13 by 9 pan put biscuits on bottom then add your meat, cheese and a veggie. Then I beat 8-11 eggs in bowl with water (like for scrambled eggs usually I use milk but not for quiche). Pour over the mixture put in oven. 400 Degrees for 35 - 40 minutes.

I don't add any spices, I put Sea Salt and Pepper on the table for dinner.

Yummmm! It turned out Delicious we all enjoyed it! Hope you give it a try.

This is ours! I put leftover ham cubed, crumbled breakfast sausage, mozzarella cheese, and spinach in ours this is with 11 eggs. but 8 would work just as good!

Scrappy Sunday

Scrappy Sunday...

That was my idea at least... that on Sundays I would post something either a thought or a project or a tutorial or what not that utilizes up that ever growing pile of scraps...

Well we see how well that turned out...Maybe I should call it Monday Mishaps since I did a project just with my scraps yesterday but...I got carried away and never posted it.

Yep, awesome on my part, I was having a good time There was a mess all over the place. It was like in the cartoons paper was flying my hands were flying about glue and paper everywhere, my tongue was even most likely hanging out to the side deep in thought and creative messiness.

When I was done it was like WooHoo! They turned out great! I used up a handful of scraps and made a few cute items to gift away. I was ecstatic! I figured while I still was full of energy I would clean up my brilliant mess.

My daughter was kind enough to help, so somewhere a long the way I was conned into playing Rock Band... Yes that is right my daughter and I singing loud and most likely obnoxiously irritating to the neighbors as well I am sure. I know they can hear us if we get loud because we can kind of hear them at times. lol oh well, all in good fun.

A day late and a dollar short... But here it is anyway,

Hope you like them, I think they are sooo darn cute!!

If you need or want a tutorial please let me know and I will be happy to do one as soon as possible.

Chicken Bake

A one dish meal my family loves, and we are not big on chicken...

  • 4 chicken breasts cubed about 1 inch pieces
  • 1 can creamed soup (we use celery but any would be delicious we have tried many of them) plus the can of milk if using condensed soup mix together before assemble
  • 16 oz bag mixed veggies thawed
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or cheddar both are yummy
  • 1 pkg. stuffing mix prepared or 6 servings homemade stuffing prepared
Preheat the oven to 350* F.

  1. in a 13 by 9 pan layer raw chicken, mixed veggies of choice, cream soup prepared, sprinkle the cheese and top with the stuffing.
  2. do not cover with foil, unless you made homemade stuffing, as it tends to be drier than store packs.
  3. leave it alone! do not stir after 40-50 minutes take it out of the oven
  4. Serve.
Do not worry the chicken is fully cooked no pink anywhere! I have made this many times and it will not dry out if you leave it for 50 minutes if you just want to make sure my sister even cooks it for a full hour, but really there is no need to, it is done at 40 minutes.

If you are like me and sometimes are in a hurry this is a great prep before, freeze in baggie, and throw in the crock pot in the morning and at dinner it is ready and waiting.

If you try it, I would love to hear your thoughts and families thoughts on it.

Do you like COFFEE?

I do and I love iced coffee as well!
I rather make it at home and have it exactly how I want it then to pay for it out. Don't get me wrong I Love Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks but I rather save a bit of money.

I buy the coffee grounds/beans at the store and brew them at home. I can add what I want to them such as my own homemade creamers or make them into homemade Frappe...

My Family Loves the creamers and The Frappe's. They are better than store bought in our opinion. But you be the judge try them for yourself.

For my Vanilla Creamer

you will need a 32 oz container to store it in an old creamer bottle works very well. and a great way to recycle.
  • 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups milk (any will work I use 2%)
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
combine all ingredients in container of choice and shake thoroughly.
That is all their is to it. Shake good each time before you use it. It will last a week in your fridge, but it never lasts that long in our house.

I have other recipes for different flavors also if any one is interested I will post more.

Homemade Frappe

Think about how much money it costs you to buy a four pack of Frappe in the store...Now how much to brew 10 cups of coffee at home...It comes out much cheaper to do it yourself.
you will need a rather large container about 3 quarts to store it in.

  • 10 Cups of Coffee Brewed (hot so dissolves sugars quicker)
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar packed
  • 1/2 Cup Vanilla Creamer (Homemade tastes yummy but store bought is fine)
Add Coffee and sugars together and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Add creamer stir thoroughly. After cools to room temp place in fridge for 4 hours or until cold.
You could just pour over ice and enjoy from room temp if you can't wait.
Or even blend with ice and make a slush iced coffee those are always yummy too!

Hope you try them! If you do please leave a comment, would love to hear what you think!

Layouts

Layouts...

it has been awhile. I have neglected my 12 by 12 scrapbooks for quite some time and decided that I am going to get back into them. I have been working on some new sketches and will be sharing my creations as I get the done...
Here are three double page layouts I have made for Valentine's.

I had a great time making these! I forgot how much fun they are to create. I got so wrapped up that I lost track of time...lol

The First Thank you card I created...

I used my cricut cartridge to cut out Hello Kitty. Don't get me wrong Hello Kitty is cute but it's just not my particular style. (I do not mean to offend any.)

Not Just for Valentine's...

Cute little box to store small goodies... candy, small nicknacks, or maybe even a ring for say a spring or summer proposal? The possibilities are endless!

Some Items I made for Valentine's Day...

Candy Bar Wrappers I made for a few friends.

I used cardstock scraps from my stash to create these, along with a Sizzix die to create the flower and vine swirl. I used a Ek Success punch to create the tag, along with an Inkadinkadoo inchie stamp.

A few cards I created for friends using up some scraps from my stash, a Martha Stewart
punch, decorative scissors, a studio g stamp for the rosette center and sheer pink ribbon from Walmart.

More Cards...
These cards i used a layering technique similar to the Dresden plate quilt pattern.
I used ColorBok white cardstock from Walmart, along with some scraps of K and Company papers, DCWV papers, and American Crafts papers. Rhinestones are from my stash I also used silver glitter glue from studio g for the string on the bow.

Done with Black Soot Distress Ink

Done with Festive Berries Distress ink

Done with Faded Jeans Distressed Ink

Done with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink

The inside of all the cards are simply lined with a piece of white cardstock.

Drawing

I do not draw everyday. I have to be in the mood, or get an idea in which case I need to jot it down fast...before it escapes me. I like to draw cartoons but mostly more realistic life like pictures. I just like to draw so without further ado Here is a video of some of some my drawings. Enjoy!

These are some of the items I create for embellishments.

I really love to crochet. My favorite projects are the ones that work up quick.

I love to Crochet, but that was not always the case!

I remember when I was little and my mother was trying to teach me how to crochet. I am surprised she was so persistent! I was making chains that circled the living room! then I would tear them out and start again. Over and over I did this...My gosh If I was her I probably would have pulled my hair out lol!

Finally she suggested that I learn new stitches and so I did.

It took a long time for me to get the hang of it...not because it was hard but because...well I was Lazy and impatient so to speak. I wanted results and it took way to long to finish anything.

Then I learned the double crochet, wow a big stitch that cuts the amount of rows and speeds the project up. I loved it! And off I went thinking I was the best showing off my great speed and knowledge of crochet trying to finish a simple double crochet throw blanket...

Here I must speak in my defense I was about 8 or 9 years old.

Well you can only imagine what this blanket looked like. It was red with black racing stripes down the center. Well kind of the stripes were off center I didn't count rows just eyeballed it remember I knew it all! lol anyway that's not it, it was supposed to be a rectangle, but it was so wonky and out of shape you could tell it was supposed to be a rectangle but the rows did not line up some had more stitches than others. I finished that blanket and my mom was proud but I wasn't! It was awful I was so upset that it didn't look as nice as my mom's. But she said she loved it and that I created my own pattern and that if I took my time and counted, put love into it Mine would be better than hers. She always knew how to make me feel better, to keep going and never give up, help me have patience when I was ready to throw in the towel!

She always said give it time, take your time, count the stitches, count the rows, enjoy what you are doing, don't rush it, love takes time.
Funny how one comment can apply to so much in life!

Anyway as you can tell I never gave up on crocheting! In fact I started counting, enjoying, adding love and even creating my own patterns!

Happy Crafting!
