There are many ways to store your art.

if it is in a bound book that is one way as well as spiral bound or a notebook

you can keep them secured in cardboard

and you can also use a portfolio of sorts

Just a little Sketch

Happy Birthday to me! lol

Today is my Birthday and i am happy to share this with you all!

I had some quality time with my daughter

the other day,

and we decided we would get a bit of sun and some sketching in.

Here is what I worked on

Pictures have been taken from different angles for depth perception...

each angle lets you see a little more

Above the tree on the right and the under side of the clouds are very prominent.

Above the landscape on the left stands out more.

And the final picture is dead on and all seems to flow nicely to make a cohesive piece.

depth and tones lead the eye to the central part of the horizon.

I am overall pleased with this.

Hybrid Dragon Slipper

I have thinking about making my own pattern for these for so long now...

I finally got off my arse and did it! lol

However i did not type it up or take pics along the way...for shame haha

anyways,

I call them hybrid because they are a mix of both knitting and crochet.

The mandala pouch was a custom order for my daughters friend.

She seen the one i made for my daughter and had to have one.

I love the way it turned out.

I am thinking of creating a larger size to accommodate more items.

create a sketchbook

I love sketchbooks

all shapes and sizes i love them all!

one can never have too many lol

So making my own was a no brainer

I have tried many different ways gluing the binding, stitching the binding

and stapling the binding

I like the ease and simplicity of the stapled binding however it is annoying when the stapler freezes up or the staples reject ugh

if you don't have a long arm stapler it can be frustrating

not anymore i found a new way

It has been a bit since i have played with my graphite.

I love using this medium because you have so many options available to you.

Here i used cheap watercolor paper 

you do not need expensive materials to make art.

you just need a few supplies

watercolor paper

graphite

eraser

tape to hold the paper

blending stump or finger

blade

inspiration or memory

I did not video this start to finish

 i only show how to put in shadow and a bit of highlight.

Cthulhu, circular, and potions...

I have been crochet happy lately,

in case you didn't notice lol.

I made three more pouches for my daughter,

to house all those dice for rpg's.

I love how they turned out!

I used 100 % cotton to make these

two got buttons laying around in my stash.

I am super excited to be using up my stash for projects for those

that truly love them.

it really makes it worthwhile.

Close up of a basic pouch with a braided drawstring.

These may be simple but they are fantastic for all those small trinkets.

I adore this pouch I added a crochet chain to it so it can be worn as a necklace/amulet pouch.

all of these pouches fit the full seven dice from the d20 rpg system.

these are awesome gifts as well for any trinkets and keepsakes.

What can I say...It's Cthulhu...I mean adorable right?! 

This cutie was so much fun to create.

However next time i am picking the buttons, lol

as these are a tad small but beady eyes are a nice touch. hahaha

Playing around

It has been getting a bit warmer so it was time for me

to get some outside fun on

This is what i chose to do this round

I pulled out some watercolors and made a few backgrounds to doodle on

or use in my other crafts

this one above is a full sheet of water color paper and i absolutely love the way it turned out

once they dry they lose a little intensity but i am fine with that.

Great gift idea

These work up super quick and are an easy make.

Crocheted dish scrubbies!

I make these using tool, which you can find pretty cheap at your local walmart.

I have made a few of these in the past and they last quite a long time I am actually still using my first one and it is still holding up really well. 

also these are safe on all surfaces! They do not scratch your non-stick coated pans but boy they make scrubbing a breeze. 

These are on my to do list for gifts for friends and family this year.

I have a decent amount of tool waiting so it would be awesome to deplete my stash and maybe make room for some new colors. always a motive hahaha

I think everyone can benefit from one of these awesome eco-friendly scrubbies.

I finally picked this back up

I finally picked this back up after the yarn giving me a headache...

I am so glad i did!

Because now i have another 5 done!

Which means one more gift complete! lol

I am super excited to be well on my way of being a bit ahead on gift knitting/crocheting for this year so far...here is hoping it stays that way.

The yarn is a variegated brown,tan and cream. I think these are perfect to gift all ages.

Made of 100 percent cotton.

I use them for wash cloths and they are highly coveted in my house. hahaha

no two are exactly alike due to the variation but they are close enough that you can totally tell they are a set. These ones are getting tucked away for a birthday later this year!

on to the next item on the to do list.

Big Finish!

I am so flipping excited to get this off my needles!

Don't get me wrong i really loved working on this...

BUT,

I couldn't be happier to have another free needle!

I have a few stagnant projects laying in hiding that i want to try to work on here and there and hopefully get them closer to being off the needles also.

no guarantees, of course, lol. just would be nice is all hahaha.

Anyway I am quite happy with this shawl and even more happy to have reasonably sized down some old stash, which is awesome!

I love the super squishyness  of this shawl I used a bag of mill ends i picked up at my local Joanns awhile back and i think this was the perfect project for it!

it took 341g of the original 400 but I also stopped the pattern early in fear of playing yarn chicken.

Honestly even cutting it short this is a sizeable shawl I don't think i would like it as much in this yarn should i have went to the full length.

However, i can see myself making another of these shawls in the future,

BUT

in another yarn weight or even just a different fiber.
